Tuition for the 2-year B.Ed. Government B.Ed colleges in Karnataka charge roughly ₹10,000–12,000 a semester; private colleges charge several times this. D.El.Ed costs less again.
Fees change every year and differ by college — confirm with the college before paying. Scholarships can cover much of this.
Who can apply
D.El.Ed needs Class 12 with about 50% and is the route to PRIMARY teaching (Classes 1-5). B.Ed needs a completed bachelor degree and leads to secondary teaching. This distinction matters: following NCTE rules and a Supreme Court ruling, a B.Ed alone does not qualify you for primary-teacher posts.
How to apply
D.El.Ed admission is through state merit at NCTE-recognised DIETs and colleges; B.Ed through the state B.Ed entrance or university merit. Either way you must then clear a Teacher Eligibility Test — CTET (ctet.nic.in) for central schools or the state TET — before you can be appointed to a government school. Check the college is NCTE-recognised on ncte.gov.in before paying any fee.
